Drama: Sex and Sensitivity: The Dance Of Intimacy

One of the greatest challenges facing a couple in a committed relationship is how to keep passion and romance alive. Kids, jobs, the house and the various pressures of life tend to wear down a marriage. The result is a conflict situation like the one confronting Steve (44) and Elizabeth (41).

Married for 15 years, the couple's sexual relationship has gradually deteriorated over the years. Sex is now occasional, unsatisfactory and initiated by Steve. In this encounter Steve again initiates and this time, rather than withdrawing in cold silence, he and Elizabeth begin to express the anger and hurt each feels.

He wants sexual contact; she wants intimacy and romance. Both are stuck in their respective corners. Neither of them understands the other's needs nor do they respect their differences. If this couple is going to recreate love and passion in their marriage, they first must learn how to hear one another. Sex is physical communication and knowing how to listen is what transforms the sexual act into a profound experience of connection
